A Short Recap of Our Exciting Summer!
SUMMER INTENSIVE TRAINING 2022
Create Caribbean held its first-ever Summer Intensive training program for community partners from August 2nd to 12th 2022. The workshop was made possible by the Mellon Foundation grant awarded to the Caribbean Digital Scholarship Collective. Representatives of several partner organizations including The Chronicle Newspaper, Dominica Library and Information Service, One Seed a Day Initiative, and others participated in the training sessions. Dr. Schuyler Esprit led the team through Caribbean Studies and Digital Humanities themes. Among the digital tools learned, the participants also learned how to construct interactive maps and timelines, digital storytelling tools, and other techniques. At the end of the training, participants could apply their new digital skills in small projects for a final presentation, and all received completion certificates.
This semester, our second-year interns will be doing their internship hours with the community partners as an extension of the summer intensive program.
Create & Code 2022
Create & Code 2022, themed "For The Future", ended in certificates and final project presentations from proud campers eager to show off their work! At camp, the various cohorts learned Robotics, Photography, HTML, C++, Javascript, 3-D Design, Augmented Reality, Twine, App Inventor, cooking, arts & crafts, and more for 5 weeks. Share and Subscribe to our newsletter for free to be notified when registration for camp begins next year- don't miss out!
Farewell to Our Graduating Interns!
This summer, our four second-year interns graduated from the program. We wish a hearty farewell to Mhea Bardouille, ZebadiJah Maxwell, Lacil Burnette, and Kyra Edwards and hope for nothing but success in their future endeavors!
