Create & Code 2023 Camp Coordinator Vacancy
Create Caribbean Research Insititute is hosting our annual Create & Code Summer Tech Camp. Create and Code is a technology education program offered by Create Caribbean to encourage students aged 5 -16 to engage in multiple forms of digital literacy, including coding, game and app development, blogging and responsible social media use. The position advertised is for a Camp Coordinator.
The Camp Coordinator’s duties would include:
Serving as the point of contact with students and parents for the in-person Summer Tech Camp experience targeting students ages 5-9
Manage correspondence with parents, staff and stakeholders regarding camp planning and delivery
Design and deliver camp activities in arts and crafts, storytelling, creative writing and outdoor experience (gardening and field trips) for the targeted age groups
Prepare and manage relevant administrative documents related to the program - consent forms, schedules, worksheets etc.
Attend and supervise scheduled field trips as part of the camp
Supervise class delivery of camp schedule, ensuring classes are appropriately staffed and begin and end on time
A valid driver's license and vehicle will be an asset
Strong candidates will have an awareness of and training in basic first aid and CPR

Create Caribbean Research Institute (CCRI) is once again hosting a Summer Intensive Training for community partner agencies and organisations in a range of fields including culture, heritage, youth, and environmental sustainability.
During the Summer Intensive Training, up to 2 members from your organisation will receive applied training in digital tools and methods for community development. The training sessions will be held from 19th to 30th June 2023 in-person at the University of the West Indies Open Campus and online on Zoom.
Following this training, we will assign a CCRI Intern to your team to help meet your organisation's goals using Digital Humanities tools introduced at the workshops.

Enter the Independence Literary Competition
The Cultural Division is hosting the Independence Literary Competition 2023. Entrants may submit a short story or poem with a Dominican or Caribbean theme. Submissions should be emailed to culturaldivisionoldmill@gmail.com. The deadline for poetry submissions is September 15th, 2023, and the deadline for short story submissions is September 30th, 2023.
