Visit Create Caribbean’s Display at Research Day

Don’t miss the chance to visit Create Caribbean’s display at the annual UWI Research Day! Come to the Faculty of Humanities and Education (FHE) Courtyard on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 12 PM to 4:30 PM.

CDSC Artist in Residency Call

Applications are now open for The Caribbean Digital Virtual Artist’s Residency program!

The six-month residency aims to facilitate the development of new artworks in digital media that investigate ideas and practices in Caribbean Digital Humanities and engage with scholars in the TCD network and community.

Mellon Foundation Call for Proposals: Community-Based Archives

The Mellon Foundation invites community-based archives in the United States and its territories to submit applications for general operating support.

These grants may provide support in one or more of the following areas of need:

• Operational costs, including staff, space, and utilities.

• Collections care, including the acquisition of new materials, physical and digital storage fees, and access and preservation efforts.

• Programming activities, including events, exhibitions, and increased community usage.

Through this program, direct support will be provided to community-based archives that represent and serve communities marginalized due to oppression.

Applications will be due by Friday, March 28, 2025 at 5:00pm ET. If selected, additional information and materials will be requested in a final proposal to be reviewed by the Foundation’s Officers.

Awards will range from $25,000 to $100,000 for grants of two years in length. Grant periods would begin August 1, 2025 and end on July 31, 2027. The Foundation plans to convene representatives from the awarded archives in person over the course of the grant term to build a cohort of organizations that would help and learn from each other.

All interested applicants must first complete a registration request by March 12, 2025 at 5:00pm Eastern. After Foundation staff have processed the registration request, eligible applicants will gain access to the application form in the Foundation’s Fluxx grantee portal. On the form, applicants will be asked to provide information about their organization and its archival collections, as well as the following documents in support of the project:

• A proposal narrative of 2-3 pages

• A CV or resume for the project lead

• A recent Form 990

• Annual operating budgets for 2023 and 2024

• A document of the archive’s governance structure including a list of board members, staff, and/or volunteer leads

Call for Proposals: Digital Library of the Caribbean

The Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC) is pleased to announce its third call for open educational resources (OER) in Caribbean studies. This project builds on over a decade of efforts across dLOC’s network of educators to share teaching tools, ideas, and practices. The dLOC OER initiative is an effort to make these types of resources more widely available.

We encourage applications from adjunct, part-time, and full-time college and university educators, independent scholars, librarians, archivists, curators, instructional designers, and graduate students from a range of disciplines and institution-types. We especially seek applications from individuals and groups based in the Caribbean.

Projects must be primarily intended for higher education or post-secondary students and relevant to Caribbean studies. Projects may or may not be directly connected to a formal course. We welcome projects with an orientation toward public humanities. Projects may be in any language of the Caribbean.

By April 14, 2025, at 11:59 pm EST, please complete the application form and upload a letter of interest as a single document (PDF) with the following:

• A brief description of your project

• How your project builds upon, enhances, adapts, or complements dLOC collections

• The amount of funding ($2,000 or $5,000) you are requesting

• Intended audience and potential ways to support outreach and dissemination

• A brief work plan indicating any activities where you may need support from dLOC staff
