The activities of Create Caribbean Research Institute, including the internship, focus on topics of cultural preservation, literacy and literary studies, digital literacy, environmentalism and sustainability, and youth advocacy in Dominica and the Caribbean.

Words from our 2nd Year graduating intern ZebadiJah Maxwell about her 2-year internship at Create Caribbean:
“Becoming an intern of Create Caribbean has truly been a magnificent decision. The time I have spent as a Create Caribbean Intern has been a wonderful and memorable experience.
From the first day, I have been continuously learning and discovering. With the exploration of digital humanities, I have been introduced to new tools and software that I had never known of before. So much so, with the creation of a large project; Visualizing Caribbean Literature, I was able to create my individual project, The Historical Treasure Hunt. It has been tremendously fun to deepen my knowledge and broaden my view of the technological world. It has also been wholesome and unique, in the moments I spent with my peers and other Create Caribbean members. The stress we shared over the spreadsheet, the joy we shared over the code running, the relief we shared over the project coming together so beautifully. All this and so much more has linked and bonded us together from strangers to proud interns, and friends.
Every journey has chaos, yet the chaos faced as an intern was alleviated when Dr. Esprit removed the rigid guidelines and deadlines on work which allowed us to focus on other subjects with more constraints but with peace of mind. This was due to the fact we had one less course that demanded a lot from us. This allowed times of recuperation and motivation to keep pushing forward and to enjoy the new yet unknown waters.
I am extremely grateful for this experience and I believe that the skills I have developed and improved during my time as an intern will go on to help me as I delve deeper into my chosen field. Create Caribbean Research Technology and Community Internship is a fulfilling and engaging one that I believe future interns would love to be a part of it just as much as I have.”
Our Intern Commons Site is Up!
The Intern Commons is a space where the public can learn about our internship program, see who our interns are for the current academic year, and access individual and collaborative projects worked on throughout the years. This space also allows students interested in joining the internship program to review the program criteria to join and access the application form. Current and past interns can also log in to the portal to access their courses and network with each other.
